New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….
The original story (published June 6, 2022) follows:
Often abbreviated as PS, PlayStation is Sony’s video game brand similar to the Microsoft Xbox. It offers several products, of which the video game console is the most popular.
That said, the company released the PlayStation 5 in November 2020. A few days ago, PlayStation 5 sales exceeded 20 million units worldwide, which the company says was less than 3.3 million units.
PlayStation also comes with its own marketplace which allows users to install apps such as Apple TV, Hulu, Netflix, and Spotify.
That said, PlayStation users using the YouTube app are now reporting that the voice search feature has been removed (1,2,3,4,5). Many are frustrated because they used the feature to search for videos.
Users have already tried generic solutions such as restarting their PlayStation, reinstalling the YouTube app, and factory resetting their device, but to no avail.
Here are some reports from PlayStation users who are upset with the removal of voice search functionality in the YouTube app.

The good: The PS5 has become the primary media device in the home where we leverage the YouTube app for content from our favorite creators. The search function in the controller was responsive, accurate, and preferred over all other methods.
The bad: When troubleshooting voice search missing with a reboot, confirming updated PS5 firmware as well as the app, doing a full factory reset and reinstalling the app, search voice is still missing.

Voice search feature gone on ps5 youtube app! I just found out that voice search feature on youtube ps5 app is missing. However, when using the youtube application installed on the smart tv, the voice search function still exists. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon. I like being able to switch to the youtube app via the PS5 switch, during breaks between play sessions.

Luckily, YouTube developers were quick to comment on the issue and said those affected should try updating to the latest version or try logging into the YouTube app again.
Sorry to hear that. If you haven’t done so already, you can try logging out and then logging into the YouTube app. Also, updating to the latest version usually does the trick. Tweet us how it goes.

We hope the above-mentioned workaround helps to fix the removed voice search feature on the PlayStation YouTube app.
Rest assured that we will follow further developments on the matter and update this space as we find more information, so stay tuned.
