Uncharted movie pays homage to iconic video game scene
When Tom Holland was asked to play Nathan Drake for the first Uncharted movie, he probably wished he had the powers of Spiderman. On Sony’s official YouTube channel, there’s a nearly two-and-a-half-minute scene from the film in which Nathan Drake fights the Braddock gons in a cargo plane that flies thousands of feet in the air.
The cargo comes out from behind and Drake follows it, as his legs get caught in the middle of the ropes that hold the cargo. Following this, the protagonist of the film must carefully board, while being shot at all the time. This scene from the film is a direct tribute to the third installment of the video game series Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Uncharted pays homage to video games
Although Drake manages to get back on the plane, the audience will be seen grabbing the handles of their seats as Uncharted brings another twist – in the form of a red sports car racing towards Nathan Drake – pushing precariously towards the board the plane.
Sony Pictures’ Uncharted, directed by Ruben Fleischer – who also directed Venom and Zombieland – is based on the PlayStation exclusive video game series developed by Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment. The film features Holland, the star of the Spider-Man film series, as the film’s protagonist – Nathan ‘Nate’ Drake. Mark Wahlberg also plays a major role in the film as Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan, Nathan’s mentor.
Other stars of the movie Uncharted include Sophia Ali who plays Chloe Frazer, Nate’s love interest. Also starring is Gabrielle, a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina alumna, who plays Braddock, while Antonio Banderas plays the main antagonist as Moncada.
