PS5 UK restock update, several Argos, Amazon, Game and more retailers to abandon stocks this week
The PS5 was first introduced in November 2020 and immediately became a hit. However, supply issues and global chip shortages have slowed console production, leaving thousands of gamers in line.
Finding new inventory is difficult, and when retailers abandon new inventory, it sells out in seconds.
PS5 Restock in UK
August is one of the best months for the PS5 restocking as there have been several drops at Smyths Toys, Very, EE and BT. There were also restockings at Amazon, Argos and Game.
In total, there were 35 drops last month. Now people are waiting to see if September will be able to exceed that number.
If you’re still looking for a PS5, you can check out updates from all of the major UK retailers, both online and in store.
As of September 3, all PS5 consoles are sold out at EE. There could be falls at Argos and Smyths Toys, according to Express UK.

UK retailers that sell PS5 consoles are Very, Scan, Argos, Smyths Toys, Game, Amazon, AO.com, John Lewis & Partners, ShopTo, Currys PC World, Asda, Tesco, EE, BT, Ace Studio and Box. co.uk.
According to Independent UK, retailers Amazon, Smyths Toys and AO could abandon their stocks on September 3. It’s best to check their websites frequently so that you don’t run out of stocks of the PS5.
One of the major retailers rumored to be abandoning inventory today is Amazon. To secure PS5 stock from the mentioned retailer, it is best to purchase a Prime membership as Amazon had made the PS5 console available exclusively to Prime members.
You can sign up for a trial for 30 days before being billed for the regular subscription.
As for AO.com, the retailer didn’t release any inventory in August, so fans are hoping it will release PS5 stocks this month.
The last replenishment on record at AO was on July 28, but it was only available 10 minutes before it ran out.
While AO is not a recommended retailer to watch, it may be one of the major retailers that will be giving up inventory this month, so it’s still worth checking back every now and then.
AO doesn’t drop huge amounts of stock, so PS5 consoles are snapping up fast.
Another retailer to watch out for is Currys PC World. Last week, the retailer ditched inventory of PS5s. It also placed a banner on its landing page stating that the consoles would be available in select stores. There were 80 stores on the list. You can check out the full list on the official Curry PC World website.
Some stores have reportedly told customers they weren’t aware of the PS5 restocking, but some customers were able to purchase a console from their local store, according to Manchester Evening News.
In the United States, major retailers such as Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy and Target are also expected to drop PS5 stocks in September.
GameStop and Sony are also expected to drop their PS5 shares this week in the US.
Practical tips for securing a console
You can use Amazon Smile. This is a website that donates part of the cost of your purchase to the charity of your choice.
Amazon Smile has less traffic than the regular website, so if you’re having uptime issues, you can use Smile instead. Add the console to your wishlist and add it to your shopping cart.
Plus, sign up for newsletters from major retail stores as they send exclusive announcements to members.
