Mega64 Dragon Ball Video Features Game Industry Legends

With dozens of episodes to watch, the Majin Buu saga of Dragon Ball Z is a long way off, far too long to sit in today’s hectic era. Luckily, Mega64 managed to condense the whole story into a more digestible 10-minute package that cleverly uses a small budget to create compelling special effects. Almost.
The big difference here is that at the end – spoilers for those who haven’t watched the Majin Buu saga since it aired in 1994 – is that Goku receives the energy for his Spirit Bomb attack from Hideo Kojima, Gabe Newell , Hideki Kamiya, Hironobu Sakaguchi and Fernando Jay Huerto AKA young Ken Kutaragi.
Like previous Dragon Ball Z videos, Mega64’s effort takes a handcrafted approach to every aspect of the project, from costumes to special effects. Who needs expensive Adobe After Effects visuals when you can replicate an energy attack with a practice ball and aim trickery?
Each of the gaming industry veterans has also appeared in Mega64 videos in the past. PlayStation’s father made an appearance in the slightly inaccurate Kutaragi Path documentary, Sakaguchi revealed how he was cursed to only work on Final Fantasy for the rest of his life, and Kamiya was forced to block comedians on the internet Twitter and Platinum Games offices.
For more Dragon Ball content – which has a more impressive production budget – you can gear up for Dragon Ball Super: The Superhero English Dub Debut when it hits cinemas on August 19th.
