Full “New World” servers will prevent players from creating new characters
To combat New World’s long lines and overloaded servers, Amazon Game Studios announced that players will no longer be able to create new characters on servers designated as full.
In an announcement published yesterday (October 2), the New world Twitter account said it “is implementing a system to prevent new players from creating new characters in full servers.”
Servers marked as full will be greyed out and players will receive an error message stating “character creation temporarily disabled on this server to avoid overcrowding”.
We are implementing a new feature to indicate if a world is full.
You can check if a world is full on the server status page!

At present, 28 servers have been moved to full status, which means that all of these servers are closed to new players. Although this is the current roster, the statement notes that players should look at the server status page “since this list of worlds may change from hour to hour”.
Although it should hopefully move to help a long time New world wait time, Amazon Game Studios is also working on adding more servers and increasing the cap on each existing server, which is currently capped at 2,000 each.
Since its launch on September 28, New world struggled with the demand for the MMO far exceeding the number of servers available. One day after launch, the New world The team said it was “working hard” to cope with the long lines, and noted on Friday October 1 that it was “working tirelessly” to add more servers.
The popularity of New world has been on view since day one, as the MMO’s streams reached nearly a million concurrent viewers on launch day alone.
