Detroit Lions land ‘video game-like’ QB, son of former All-Pro in 2023 mock draft

It may be June 2022, but it’s never too early to start talking about what Detroit Lions may or may not make it in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As it stands, the Lions currently have the fifth-worst Super Bowl odds, and that’s what Jeff Easterling from DraftWire used to determine the order of his last mock 2023 NFL Draft.
Detroit Lions land ‘video game-like’ QB, son of former All-Pro in 2023 mock draft
With the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Easterling has the Lions in selection washington state QB, Neighborhood Cam.
Here’s what Easterling has to say about the Lions picking Ward at No. 5.
The Lions kicked off the 2022 quarterback class, likely hoping to land a better prospect atop next year’s draft. Ward looked like he was playing NCAA Football 14 in rookie mode at Incarnate Word, and if he can do something similar in the Pac-12, he could easily end up justifying a top-five pick.
Ward, entering his first season with Washington State, has played the past two seasons at Incarnate Word, where he posted video game-like numbers (6,099 passing yards and 62 touchdowns in 17 games).
Easterling then asks the Lions to select Penn State BC Joey Porter Jr.who is the former NFL All-Pro’s son Joey Porterwith the No. 28 overall pick (via Los Angeles Rams)
The Lions have usable starters around the corner, but they’re still looking for a true saver who can lead the whole group. The son of another dominant NFL defenseman, Porter has all the ingredients to make a similar impact at the top level.
If the Lions select at No. 28 and Joey Porter Jr. is still available, Brad Holmes may have to upset the NFL again by handing the pick too soon, because it would be a complete robbery. In fact, it’s very early days but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Porter Jr. was the first cornerback selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Nation, if the Detroit Lions were to select Cam Ward and Joey Porter Jr. with their two first-round picks in 2023, would you be satisfied?
