Capcom’s Advanced Tech Division Director Announces “Village, Resident Evil” Video Game Coming to M2 Macs This Fall
At WWDC22 this morning, Jeremy Sandmel, Senior Director of Apple Software, spoke about the advancements in Metal 3. At one point, Sandmel highlighted Apple’s new “Fast Resource Loading API”, which minimizes the latency by providing a more direct path between storage and the unified memory system so that the GPU can access high-quality textures and buffers faster without waiting.
Sandmel added that “Metal 3 and Apple Silicon enable even more immersive visuals, faster performance, and faster loading. It really is a new day for Mac gaming. But don’t take our word for it. Let’s hear from the team leader who created the acclaimed Resident Evil Village game, coming to Mac later this year.
Below is the clip of Masaru Ijuin, Head of Advanced Technical Research Division, Capcom, describing their upcoming game on “Apple’s amazing Mac lineup, powered by Apple Silicon.”
In April 2022, Patently Apple published an intellectual property report titled Apple shows strong interest in developing its own set of gaming controllers as a second major patent was uncovered. It’s clear that Apple plans to push its gaming reach into high-end PC gaming, as evidenced by Capcom’s official showing off Resident Evil Village on the Mac. It’s the hope of many in the Apple community to see the Apple TV box also come in a pro version for high-end gaming with an M2 chip to take on the Xbox and PlayStation 5.
